Grab your own slice of Connemara

Throughout October and November I was very productive with the camera and shot quite a few locations both at sunrise and at sunset. The Autumnal light providing good opportunities for capturing Connemara in all its glory.

It has been great to add a selection of images to the gallery on a regular basis and the feedback received has been wonderful and very motivating. What has been even more inspiring is the number of requests to purchase prints of my work.

This was initially a concern as I no longer had a large format printer to print myself and I hadn't developed any relationships with local fine art printers. Before I left the UK I attended Focus UK and had seen a number of online resources for photographers which provide both shopping cart functionality and also 'direct to print' services.

Having researched quite a few I selected smugmug's professional online service. It's aimed at professional photographers and allows them to shoot, upload and sell. It's a great set up as it does all the 'back end' programming, shopping cart and printing.

I'm sure most photographers will agree that the less time spent in front of a computer means more time out and about with the camera.

I've been testing it out for a little while now and have ordered a number of different style prints through the site and I've been really impressed with the speed of service and blown away by the quality of print. Having been a print designer for over 15 years I know just how satisfying it is to see ones work really brought alive by professional quality printing.

The most interesting style of printing available is called 'Alumini' and it really makes images pop with the latest in high definition print technology. Robust, waterproof and scuff resistant the Alumini print radiates vibrancy and luminosity creating an eye-catching feature for any room.

I recently received a series of self portraits in Alumini and they are simply stunning! (the print, not the subject).

You can access the site using the link below and the images are within an album titled 'A Year In Connemara' in the gallery. There are currently 20 images in the gallery and each image in limited to 25 prints.
